Strive Living Society is a dynamic non-profit organization that strives to provide foster homes and support to children and youth with mental health, physical and developmental disabilities as well as challenging behaviors and medical healthcare needs.
Strive Living Society is currently seeking highly skilled, experienced couples on the North Shore to provide a warm and inclusive home environment for children and youth with complex medical, social and behavioral needs. The cities we are searching for homes in are North Vancouver, West Vancouver to as far as Horseshoe Bay. Ideally homes should have a separate space available for the child or youth to live in. The Hybrid Supported Foster Care program places children and youth into caring homes in addition to providing one-to-one staffing 30+ hours per week, as well as intensive ongoing case management support.
Contracts for Hybrid Supported Foster Care range from $8,000.00 to $10,000.00 per month, depending on the child or youth’s level of support required. Suitability of the applicant will be determined through a screening process based on an agency interviews, reference checks, submission of all required documentation (including a criminal record background check for all adults over 18 years of age that reside in the home, current first aid certification as well as a medical note).
We require foster parents to perform duties which may include overseeing medication administration, providing personal care, meal preparation, grocery shopping, activity planning, community integration and transportation to and from school/medical/dental appointments.
**Valid BC Driver’s License, clear driver’s abstract and a reliable vehicle
** Be comfortable working individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
**Valid Home and Vehicle insurance
**Negative TB Test
**NVCI/MANDT training is an asset but not required.
**Extensive experience supporting individuals with complex intellectual, behavioural and/or social needs.
All above requirements can be obtained before a child or youth moves in. Strive also offers training opportunities for our foster parents including First Aid/CPR and Mandt training.
